Gianluigi Donnarumma might need to spend next season playing for AC Milan after all. That's what Milan CEO Marco Fassone said on their TV today, even though the goalkeeper will not sign a contract extension and therefore will be leaving the club as a free agent in July 2018.
It's clear that this is not what Donnarumma wants. Fans are very angry with him and it won't be an easy season for the goalkeeper if he has to stay in Italy. However, this could very well be Milan's plan to increase Donnarumma's price in the market and even try to force him to sign a new deal with the club.
Donnarumma's agent Mino Raiola knows the business and it would not be shocking to see the goalkeeper signing a new —and much better— deal with Milan soon.
Real Madrid are reportedly fairly interested in the goalkeeper and could make a move for him this same summer, according to reports from Italy.
