In the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey Juvenil, Real Madrid Juvenil finally had some luck. They were drawn against a considerably weaker side, RCD Mallorca. However, Juvenil didn't resort to a lax approach, and quickly ended any of Mallorca's hopes in the first leg, which they won 5-1.

First leg at home (5-1)

Juvenil got a considerable boost in the form of the best young right back in La Fábrica: Achraf “Arra” Hakimi. Castilla's season is unfortunately over, so this gave Guti a chance to call up this incredibly talented youngster. And Achraf made an impact right away.

Juvenil were caught off guard at the beginning of the game and they conceded in the first minute. But in the fifth minute, Achraf won the ball and squared it for Franchu, who scored the equalizer.

Right before half time, Oscar did what Oscar does best — score an absolute golazo from a free kick. This goal was the decisive goal of the match and consequently the tie. From there on, Juvenil went on to score another 3 goals and effectively ended the tie in the first 90 minutes of the quarterfinals.

The second half of the game was so comfortable that Guti decided to give César (central midfielder) his Juvenil A debut, in which he scored in the 72nd minute.

Second leg away (1-1)

The second leg of this tie was inevitably effected by the result of the first leg. Guti decided to rotate a bit and rest some of his key players.

Once again, Juvenil weren't fully prepared mentally at the beginning of the game, and they conceded a penalty within the first 10 minutes. It was far from an ideal start, but even this early goal from Mallorca never gave us an impression that they could actually pull it off.

Juvenil tried to settle into the game and they did so in the last 15 minutes of the first half. Oscar, Javi and Dani Gomez had their chances to level the game, but in the end it was Cobo who scored the opening goal for Juvenil.

In the second half Juvenil created a number of good chances, but were, unfortunately, unable to convert them. But it didn't matter, because this 1-1 draw was enough to see them through to semifinals of Copa del Rey Juvenil.

Semifinal Draw

Sevilla. Atlético Madrid. Villarreal.

Those were the potential opponents for Juvenil. And on Monday at 12pm CET, the semifinal draw was decided. Real Madrid Juvenil A were drawn against Villarreal.

Villarreal didn't have an easy route to the semifinals of Copa del Rey Juvenil, as they had to face Barcelona in a thrilling 6-5 tie on aggregate.

It's the second time these teams face each other this season. One month ago, Juvenil faced Villarreal in the semifinals of their winning Copa de Campeones run.

The first leg will be played this weekend at home, and the second leg will be played the weekend after that. The exact dates and times are yet to be confirmed by the Spanish Federation.
