Real Madrid's interest in Gianluigi Donnarumma is the main reason why the young goalkeeper refuses to sign a contract extension with AC Milan, according to a report from Sky Italia.
Donnarumma's current deal with Milan expires in 2018 and he could join Madrid as a free agent if Los Blancos are willing to wait one more year to sign a goalkeeper.
Rumors from Spain indicate that Real Madrid will try to sign David De Gea away from Manchester United this summer, but Los Blancos could wait and sign Donnarumma for free next summer instead. That would also give Keylor Navas another chance to prove his worth after his good performances over the last few months of the season.
Furthermore, Donnarumma is still 18 years old, meaning that even if he joins Madrid in 2018 he could be Navas' reserve for another year. Signing Donnarumma as a free agent would be a brilliant move by Real Madrid.
