Rough translation:

“Today is a special day, a different day... There are many things I would like to say now, there are many feelings, many memories that now crowd in my head... Today my second stage at Real Madrid is over, today a new challenge begins in my career. I am sure that some will not understand my decision, others will surely not support it... But in the end that is my decision. A very well thought out and meditated decision.

I leave my home, because that's how I feel about Real Madrid. I go with a clear conscience of who left the skin in each training, every minute I have been lucky to wear a T-shirt. With the tranquility of having been important in an incredible year in which we have raised four titles, a year that surely neither you nor I will ever forget...

I only have words of gratitude for Real Madrid. I am the player that I am now thanks to this club. I want to take advantage of these lines of my farewell, for it cannot be otherwise, to give my thanks; thanks to the President for having understood my vision, for understanding that I have made a decision and for respecting it.

Thanks also to the coaching staff for all that they have helped me with and contributed to me, today I am a better player than a year ago and it is thanks to them. Thanks also to my colleagues with whom I have shared an incredible season. Thanks to all and each and every one of the employees of the club who every day strive to make life easier for the players. And thanks, of course, to the fans, because since my return you have made me feel loved and valued, because you have always been there since my presentation until the last night in Cibeles ... Finally, the most important thing, thanks to my wife, thanks to my family, to my agent and my friends, those who are always there and never fail.”
