Achraf Hakimi is one of the most intriguing prospects out of Real Madrid’s academy. The young defender has always been considered a long-term option for Madrid’s defensive line but almost every analyst and pundit thought the 2017-18 season could be too soon for him. However, all of a sudden Los Blancos decided to sell Danilo to Manchester City and now they will have to find a backup for Dani Carvajal within the current roster.
Considering that Nacho might be needed as soon as either Ramos or Varane get injured, this could be a great opportunity for Achraf. But is he ready to make the best of it even if Carvajal goes down for a few weeks?
Zinedine Zidane, his coaching staff and the board made a risky decision when they got rid of Danilo. The Brazilian defender didn’t quite perform up to the expectations generated when Madrid signed him two years ago, but he at least had the experience needed to play in big games. Achraf might be facing the opportunity of a lifetime and Real Madrid need him to succeed.
