Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo will kick his pre-season off today even though he had the club’s permission to wait until August 5th. Ronaldo will not travel to the United States and will work in Valdebebas instead, where his teammates will join him as soon as the pre-season stage in North America ends.
It’s fairly clear that Ronaldo wants to be ready for the Spanish Supercup against Barcelona, and while he could feature, it will all be on Zinedine Zidane’s hands. Ronaldo’s teammates will be in much better shape as they’ve been training for almost a month now, meaning that the Portuguese star might not be the best choice to start.
Either way, Zidane was the first coach who convinced Ronaldo of missing a few games just to be ready for the decisive games last April, so the French coach will surely know what to say if he wants Ronaldo to be a reserve these first few games.
