Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo is injured. Per the club’s official medical report:
Following tests carried out on Jesús Vallejo at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a muscle strain in his left thigh. His recovery will continue to be assessed.
Vallejo didn’t feature a single minute on Real’s 2-1 win against Manchester United in the UEFA Supercup and it looks like he will be Zidane’s fourth choice for the center-back spot, as he wasn’t even on the bench. He will now need some time to recover and might potentially miss the next two or three weeks given that there is no need to rush his recovery.
For the time being, it’s clear that he will not be able to participate in the upcoming Spanish Supercup against Barcelona —Sunday at the Camp Nou, Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu— so coach Zidane will need to trust Nacho if something happens to either Ramos or Varane.
