Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea will be the referee for the first leg of the Spanish Supercup between Real Madrid and Barcelona. De Burgos is a young referee as he’s only 31 years old and made his debut in the Spanish Primera Division back in 2015.
He’s been in charge for just 37 games in Primera, meaning that he might lack the experience needed to call such a game.
Real Madrid’s record with him in charge is 3-1-1, with the one loss coming against Valencia last February.
On the other hand, Barcelona have a 3-1-0 record with De Burgos in charge, including the shocking 0-8 win against Deportivo in April 2016.
Neither team will make things easy on De Burgos Bengoetxea this Sunday. Again, he has just two European games under his belt and he will surely have to earn the respect from the players while the game is being played. Expect both teams to put a lot on pressure on him early on although he showed a red card in 28% of the games he called last season.
