Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a heavy ban after pushing De Burgos Bengoetxea right after the referee showed him his second yellow card and sent him off. According to reports from Spain aware of the regulations, Ronaldo could potential miss Madrid’s next 12 games, although similar situations in the past required a four-game suspension.
Apparently, the referee’s obvious and blatant mistake does not make any difference as it’s consider part of the game. Ronaldo should not have pushed the referee on his way out and now his own mistake will cost him.
Ronaldo will pay the price, but will the referee? De Burgos Bengoetxea completed an abysmal performance in his first El Clásico and he will remain as a referee in Spain’s Primera División. If Ronaldo is facing the consequences of his mistake, so should De Burgos Bengoetxea.
For the time being, Real Madrid will appeal Ronaldo’s second yellow card, an appeal which will most likely be accepted. Ronaldo’s push will be discussed later.
