Cristiano Ronaldo’s five-game ban was upheld even after Real Madrid’s appeal and the Portuguese star had some words to say about it:
“It’s impossible to be OK with this situation. Five games! It seems a lot to me and it’s ridiculous, you can call this a campaign!”, wrote Ronaldo. “Thank you to my teammates and my fans for the support,” he concluded.
The Portuguese star won’t be able to participate in Real Madrid’s next five games, including tonight’s match against Barcelona and the first four fixtures in La Liga.
Coach Zinedine Zidane also decided to speak his mind about the ban during the pre-match press conference, saying that “something is going on” and adding that he is ”very frustrated.”
Ronaldo was sent off during the match against Barcelona after the referee showed him a second yellow card because of a dive that ended up being a regular fall. He then pushed the referee and this is why he was punished with a five-game suspension.
