Real Madrid face Deportivo at Riazor —22:15 CET— in what will be their first match of the 2017-18 La Liga season. This one should be a manageable game for Madrid although they will also need to play good football to earn the three points, as Atletico’s surprising away draw against Girona this Saturday proved.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Mateo Kovacic and Jesus Vallejo are not available. Coach Zinedine Zidane is not expected to make heavy rotations for this one even though it’s true that some starters could probably use a break after two intense games against Barcelona. It will be interesting to see what the French coach decides to do with his starting XI knowing that players like Theo Hernandez or Dani Ceballos surely want to prove their worth sooner rather than later. Zidane has a deep roster at his disposal and it might be time for him to use it rather than trusting his starters week in and week out.
