Real Madrid have less than a week to make any kind of move in the transfer market and it looks like Los Blancos will stay put, meaning that they could try to complete the season without a backup striker.
Early this summer, rumors suggested that Madrid were going to sign Kylian Mbappe. Reports from MARCA even said that Madrid and Monaco had an agreement in place but now that seems to be very old news as Mbappe appears to be ready to stay with Monaco. Real Madrid have a deep roster and it would not be easy to find minutes for the young attacker, who wants to keep improving as a player by having a relevant role.
Furthermore, Marco Asensio seems to be Real Madrid’s real deal and a potential signing of Mbappe could take minutes away from the Spanish wonder kid. Los Blancos are not ready to part ways with Gareth Bale this summer and even if they stay put Zidane will have to keep two players out of the Bale-Asensio-Isco trio on the bench.
This will be a very long season and injuries will happen, but staying on the bench for big games will not be an easy pill to swallow for those three men. Adding Mbappe to the equation would only make things harder for Zidane.
