The Spanish Football Federation confirmed Sergio Ramos’ one-game suspension even after Real Madrid decided to appeal his second yellow card. The Spanish defender will therefore miss Sunday’s home game against Valencia after just one game played in this 2017-18 La Liga season.
“After Carvajal spent one minute on the ground they didn’t throw the ball out, I told them that we were going to do the same and somebody headbutted me, I answered back and got a yellow card. For the second yellow card I just leaned on him,” said Ramos after the game.
“I don’t think the referees do it on purpose but they gotta pay more attention to these plays. We’ve been winning it all for quite some time now and some people might be celebrating but others don’t go to sleep happily,” he added when asked about whether there’s an agenda behind the decisions by the referees.
