Mateo Kovacic and Raphael Varane completed Real Madrid’s training session this Friday and appear to be ready to face Valencia on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu. Both players couldn’t play against Fiorentina and were questionable but now it seems that they should be ready.
While Kovacic is expected to be on the bench, Varane’s presence will definitely help Zinedine Zidane given Sergio Ramos’ suspension. With Varane available, Zidane will be able to start the French defender alongside Nacho in the center of Madrid’s defensive line instead of having to trust either Casemiro or Marcos Llorente for that job.
Jesus Vallejo is now Real Madrid’s only injured player, although Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo are both serving suspensions. Ramos will only miss Sunday’s game while Ronaldo still has two more matches left in his ban apart from the one against Valencia.
It’s time for Madrid’s reserves to prove they belong in this roster.
