Zidane took questions from the press following Real’s disappointing 2-2 draw to Valencia.

On Real Madrid’s Performance

"I can't be happy with result, but the performance was excellent. We deserved more, but that's the way it goes in football and you can't always win. We've dropped two points but I'm really proud of my players.”

"The tough part is to create the chances and today we had seven or eight clear-cut openings. We could have won the game, but that's not how things panned out. We'll continue to work hard and focus on the next game. It's now time to rest up, although some of the players are heading off with their national teams".

On the Result

“The La Liga season is a very long one and we're bound to drop more points along the way. Today we came up against an organized side who made things difficult for us. There are two teams in every game. We've never gotten carried away and we've always remained faithful to the same approach. Today we created chances, which is the main thing. We've dropped two points and it's not a good result. We would have liked to have won after putting in that effort. No doubt we'll drop more points, but it's a long old season.”

On Asensio

“I'm happy with his display and am not surprised by all that he does. He scored two goals and I'm happy with him, but it was a good job on a collective level. I don't like to single players out and I prefer to speak of what the whole team did. I hope that Asensio keeps these performances up and that he scores many more goals."

“When he plays all the madridistas in the stadium love it, he is a smashing young lad. I'm happy with his progress, nobody is really surprised by him, and it shows that Real Madrid were right to bring him into the fold.”

On Benzema

“The fans can do what they want. The important thing is that Karim has the chances and he did. Tonight he didn't score but that doesn't matter. We have to keep smiling because this is football. Sometimes things don’t work out but you have to be patient. We don’t bother with what the supporters think, they come here and cheer us on, just like today.”

On Bale

“He's a key player in the squad. Gareth is Gareth. We keep working hard and we rely on Gareth, just as is the case with the other players. Gareth’s situation is good. He had scoring opportunities but did not convert them. We're going to keep working on this. I can't criticize my players, quite the contrary. I'm very happy with their work.”
