The Spanish Football Federation just confirmed that Real Madrid defender Marcelo will be suspended for the next two La Liga games after being sent off during the 1-1 draw against Levante.

That means that the Brazilian left-back will miss the away match against Real Sociedad and the home game against Betis. Theo Hernandez appears to be ready to replace Marcelo in the starting lineup but he might not be able to add his creativity. Theo’s pace will be a very interesting weapon to use so Zinedine Zidane might decide to implement a counterattacking system throughout these two games.

Marcelo will be available this Wednesday against APOEL as his ban only keeps him out of the domestic games. That’s why Zidane will almost surely place him in Real’s starting XI so Theo can have fresh legs for the next two La Liga matches.

Cristiano Ronaldo will also miss Real’s visit to Real Sociedad next Sunday.
