Real Madrid just made official that Marcelo has signed a contract extension which will keep him with the club until the summer of 2022. This is the first extension announced by the club but more —mainly Isco— are expected in the upcoming weeks, if not days.
Marcelo will officially sign his new deal this Thursday and then he will also speak in press conference.
Marcelo won’t be available next Sunday as he will miss Real’s next two La Liga games after being sent off during the team’s 1-1 draw against Levante. However, he is expected to feature in Zidane’s starting lineup in APOEL’s visit to the Santiago Bernabeu so that Theo Hernandez can have fresh legs for the next two clashes in La Liga.
The Brazilian defender is Madrid’s second captain behind Sergio Ramos but he is still 29 years old, meaning that his new deal will expire when he turns 34.
