It’s worse than expected.

Bad news for Real Madrid. The club just released a medical report on Mateo Kovacic and his injury is worse than what was initially expected.

After the tests carried out on our player Mateo Kovacic at the Hospital Universitario Sanitas La Moraleja he has been diagnosed with a partial tear on his large tendon in his right adductor muscle —groin—.

Real Madrid never mention how long Kovacic will be out but it’s clear that he will need time to recover from this injury. He knew that this wasn’t a small thing when he was leaving the pitch but coach Zidane said after the game that it didn’t look too serious. It seems that he could miss at least two months.

Los Blancos will not rush Mateo Kovacic back as they have a deep squad, especially in the midfield line. Dani Ceballos will now play more minutes as the potential replacement for both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos and the same happens with Marcos Llorente, because Kovacic was playing as a deep midfielder quite often as well.
