Gareth Bale truly made his star against Inter Milan in the Champions League in 2010. The then left back put on two of the most amazing individual performances the world has ever seen against Maicon, arguably the best right back in the world. The goals and assists he put up coined a whole song “taxi for Maicon” and birthed the world’s next superstar.
The Welshman reminded everyone today why he’s still one of the best footballers on the planet with a goal reminiscent of that famous Champions League tie for Tottenham Hotspur. Bale has been under scrutiny early this season as his production hasn’t been felt and players like Marco Asensio emerging to challege for his spot. However, this goal against Real Sociedad is exactly why he’s not going anywhere any time soon.

Despite starting his run nearly five full steps behind the Sociedad defender on the right flank, Bale out-paces him to get a great chance in on goal. Baring down on the goalkeeper, he deftly chipped a finish into the back of the net for a spectacular goal. Hopefully we see more of that this season and the speculation about his future in the lineup and as a Real Madrid player overall quiets down. Because when he’s making plays like this, he’s unlike anyone else in the world.
