Real Madrid want to sign Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to MARCA. Los Blancos want to add a young goalkeeper to their current squad and Thibaut Courtois, Kepa and Gianluigi Donnarumma are on Madrid’s shortlist, per that same report. Keep in mind that MARCA are the ones who reported that Mbappe to Real Madrid was a done deal.
Kepa will turn 23 years old next month and is currently the starter for Athletic Bilbao. He has showed promise and potential although he’s clearly not as good as Courtois or Donnarumma just yet.
Kepa’s current deal with Athletic expires in 2018, meaning that he will be able to sign for any given club as a free agent next January, although he’d have to end the season with the Basque club. It would be quite interesting for Madrid to sign Kepa on a free. Athletic are trying to increase his current €10 million release clause to €65 million, although they have not reached an agreement with the keeper. Los Blancos will try to take advantage of this situation.
