Spain host Italy at the Santiago Bernabeu —20:45 CET— in what could be a decisive game for both teams since they are even at 16 points in the Group G.
Marco Asensio could be starting this game after his last few performances with Real Madrid. Spain’s coach Julen Lopetegui tested a new formation with Asensio playing as a false 9 during this past week and apparently it worked, meaning that the young player will not have to replace any of Spain’s trademark midfielders in the lineup.
Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal are also expected to start, and so is Isco. Lucas Vazquez and Nacho will almost surely be on the bench in case Lopetegui needs them.
As always, it will be important for Madrid that this players end the game safe and fresh so that their next game against Levante can be played without making too many rotations. They will also host APOEL three days after that one game, so Zidane will need to manage his roster.
