As reported by Real Madrid’s official website, FIFA have revealed the 55 player shortlist for the 2017 FIFPro World XI. 25,000 professional players from 75 countries voted on the shortlist and selected twelve Real Madrid players. The final XI will be announced on October 23rd in London, at ‘The Best FIFA Football Awards.’
List of Real Madrid players selected
Goalkeepers: Navas
Defenders: Ramos, Varane, Marcelo, Carvajal
Midfielders: Casemiro, Modric, Kroos, Isco
Attackers: Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema
There are sure to be some arguments over the selections of a few players, but there’s no doubt that Los Blancos deserves to have the biggest representation in the shortlist for the World XI. After struggling in the group stages, Real swept the best teams in Europe with spectacular performances from Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Sergio Ramos in particular. Considering the difficulty of repeating as UCL champs and the utter dominance of Real’s knockout campaign, it would be a crime to see any less than half the XI consist of Zidane’s men.
