It’s been a special day for Marco Asensio. The Spanish wonder kid signed his new deal with Real Madrid today and speak to the press shortly after. His new contract will expire in 2023.
"It’s a very important day. Extending my contract with the world's largest club is an honour. Last year was a great year in which I grew a lot. This year we’ve started very well. My goals are the same: to win lots of titles with Real Madrid. I'm very happy,” he said.
He also addressed Cristiano Ronaldo’s compliments after the Portuguese star mentioned him as one of the players who will lead the next generation.
"To receive praise from Cristiano Ronaldo, from a player like him who has won everything, is great. I don’t think about the ballon d'or, I'm young and I’m going step by step,” he said.
Asensio has scored some truly important goals but the one against Juventus in the Champions League Final stands out for him.
"The goal in the Champions League final, it's a dream goal. To be able to compete in a Champions League final, to win it with Real Madrid and to score was incredible and exciting".
