Bad news for Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane. Casemiro and Keylor Navas did not complete Thursday’s training session with their teammates while central-defender Raphael Varane is still recovering from the small injury which kept him out of the team for Real’s last home game against Valencia.
All things considered, Casemiro and Navas should be considered questionable for Sunday’s match against Valencia while Varane is doubtful. Zidane will not risk the French defender and that means that either Nacho or Vallejo will get the start alongside Sergio Ramos.
If Casemiro isn’t ready to go, defensive midfielder Marcos Llorente should be expected to play after training with the coaching staff during this FIFA break. Llorente needs relevant minutes to prove his worth ahead of the defensive line and his chance could come this same Sunday if Zidane decides to rest Casemiro ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against APOEL at the Santiago Bernabeu.
