Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos was forced to leave the game against Leganes in the Copa del Rey Quarterfinals. Los Blancos ended up getting a valuable 0-1 win after an otherwise mediocre performance, but Ceballos wasn’t as brilliant as some fans hoped.
“I had a knock on my knee during the first half and on the second half I sprained my ankle. I’m a bit hurt right now but we will run some tests on it all tomorrow and I hope that this will be nothing serious,” explained Ceballos after the game.
Los Blancos signed the promising midfielder this past summer but he has not been a relevant player for coach Zinedine Zidane. While it’s clear that Ceballos is still 21 years old and has both Modric and Kroos ahead of him in the rotation, the fans expected to see more minutes for him this season. He will have to stay patient as Madrid don’t want to send him on loan this winter, even though Betis’ coach Quique Setien revealed last week that Ceballos would like to return to Betis to play there the second half of the season.
