Real Madrid set to trigger Kepa’s release clause in the upcoming days

Los Blancos won’t wait until the summer to sign the keeper.

Real Madrid are ready to trigger the €20 million release clause on Kepa Arrizabalaga’s release clause and will do so in the upcoming days, according to MARCA’s front page. The Spanish paper are adamant about the goalkeeper signing for Madrid this winter instead of waiting until the summer, when he would be a free agent.

If this happens, Real Madrid would have three quality goalkeepers in Navas, Kepa and Casilla, so the latter would probably have to leave the club as he wouldn’t play any minutes. Still, fans shouldn’t expect to see Kepa in Real’s starting XI just yet unless Navas gets injured once again.

Kepa is 23 years old and could be Spain’s third goalkeeper in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Athletic Bilbao were back in training this Tuesday but the keeper was still recovering from a foot injury which has kept him out of the team for a while.
