Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press ahead of Wednesday’s match against Leganes in the return leg of the Copa del Rey Quarterfinals, where Madrid hold a 1-0 lead on aggregate after the away win they earn last week.

Zidane confirmed that team captain Sergio Ramos will be back with the squad after being out since the Christmas break.

“Sergio will be with us tomorrow. Then we will see how we do it, but he will be there,” said Zidane without explaining whether Ramos will start or not.

Now that the BBC of Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo is fit again, most fans and analysts have been wondering what will happen to Isco, who was an undisputed starter whenever one of those three players wasn’t available. Zidane had something to say about it.

“Isco will always have an important role here, whether I am coach or not. He has showed what he is as a player. I have always shown my confidence in him, he can be a decisive player. That will not change,” stated the coach.

Zidane was asked about what happened in the Kepa transfer saga when it appeared that the goalkeeper was set to sign for Real Madrid. The French coach didn’t want to say much.

“The important thing for me is to protect my squad, the players here are those who concern me. But I have nothing against Kepa, or any other player,” explained the coach, who added that he talked to the board about not making many changes to the current squad this winter.
