Return of the BBC gives Real Madrid hope ahead of crucial clash against PSG

Th BBC of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo started a football game for the first time since April 2017 and gave Los Blancos a solid 1-4 win against a tough Valencia team.

The injuries and suspensions to the three members of the attacking trio made Isco and undisputed starter for Madrid, and while he deserved to keep that role after his brilliant finish to the 2016-2017 season, it now seems clear that coach Zinedine Zidane might decide to use the 4-3-3 formation which allows the BBC to play off each other upfront.

For instance, Karim Benzema completed what probably was one of his best performances this season. His assist to Cristiano Ronaldo in the play that led to the first penalty called was brilliant and it’s clear that he’s much more comfortable finding both Bale and Ronaldo and relying on them to score than being expected to convert chances.

The overall performance of the team wasn’t as brilliant and the final score of 1-4 could be a bit misleading as Valencia dominated much of the second half and could’ve scored the equalizer. Still, Madrid will be able to gain some momentum and confidence after this game and they desperately needed that just two weeks ahead of what will be a crucial match against PSG.

It’s not clear whether the BBC will start against the French powerhouse or not. Bale worked very hard defensively on Saturday but PSG offer so many threats upfront that Zidane could need another midfielder. Still, Madrid’s coach should probably let Benzema, Ronaldo and Bale play the next two games in order to find out if they can get the job done offensively while also helping the midfielders when the opposition have the ball, a factor which will be crucial against Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani, Verratti and Co.
