Real Madrid’s first game of 2018 is the first leg of their Copa del Rey matchup against Spanish Segunda Division’s Numancia. The Soria based side is currently sitting fifth in league play, and should be another chance for Real Madrid to rotate their squad at the start of the new year.
Numancia are in pretty good form despite sitting fifth in the Segunda Division. They haven’t lost a game in their last five in all competitions, making for at the very least a team in good form that can potentially make things tough for Real in the opening minutes of the game.
This is Real Madrid’s first game since the 3-0 El Classico loss to Barcelona, and a chance to start the new year on a good note. Getting younger players and players the likes of Gareth Bale more minutes returning from injury can help to build towards the start of more positive results.
Predicted Lineup:
Real Madrid: Navas; Tejero, Achraf, Nacho, Theo; Llorente, Ceballos, Kovacic, Feuillassier, Mayoral, Oscar.
