Former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was interviewed by Il Corriere Dello Sport and spoke about the team’s struggles. He knows Zidane well —the Frenchman was his assistant coach during the 2013-2014 season— so his assessment of the current situation could be very valuable.

“They’ve bounced back very well against Valencia but I don’t think they’re going through a crisis. They can only win the Champions League now so I believe they will focus all their efforts there,” said Ancelotti.

Real Madrid face PSG in just two weeks and Ancelotti coached both teams.

“We will have to pay attention on what Zidane does in the Champions League. They will be very hard to stop if he beats Emery because they have a player who just will refuse to lose in Cristiano Ronaldo. Still, this will be a even tie as PSG have all you need to win the Champions League. They have Neymar and Mbappe while they are also more experienced and they have more quality than last year. They are more mature and more dangerous,” explained Ancelotti.
