We’re all still happily riding the Castilla thriller wave, and today brought along another very winnable fixture that could have seen the whites go top of the table. Internacional didn’t have far to travel as they are also based in Madrid, making this one a kind of local derby... Whilst Vinícius Júnior is away on international duty with the Brazil under-20 team, Castilla still fielded a strong team. Alberto filled the gap left by the Brazilian, whilst Álex Martín came into the defence for the first time this season. Gorka Zabarte continued to fill in at left back! Jaime Seoane was the captain for this one...

Internacional were also situated in the top half of the table, and looked to be worth their weight. Despite creating little throughout the game, they kept the ball well and rarely resorted to the physical nuisances often seen by teams in this division. Castilla still looked the better team in the first half, but also failed to create anything clear cut. After a goalless first half, the second half started off very different. The visitors were disallowed a goal in the opening minute after an offside call - and one minute later Castilla took the lead. Alberto was at the centre of the move as he linked up with both López and González before feeding Fidalgo to score a tap-in. From there on Castilla began to dominate and looked to double their lead. They created some chances here and there, but it was mostly easy pickings for the opposition keeper. Internacional equalised through a set piece which was headed off the floor, bouncing over Luca Zidane. There was an element of luck about their equaliser, but they managed to slow the game down for the remaining 20 minutes. Castilla pressed towards the end but were unable to find a winning goal, and the game ended 1-1.

This is not a bad result, and the unbeaten run is still intact. Castilla still remain comfortably in the promotion areas, and they now already have around half of the points needed to ensure safety. As soon as they reach that number, around the 40 mark, then we may be able to start being optimistic. Until then lets just enjoy this run whilst it lasts! Man of the match went to Alberto who was mighty impressive all game long, causing multiple problems for the visitors. For the first time in a while, Castilla have four top quality wingers at their disposal... Next week they take on another B team as they travel to Celta Vigo B. It’ll be tough but that will yet again be a fixture there for the taking...
