Varane can’t train with France, questionable for El Clasico against Barcelona

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane was forced to leave France’s match against Iceland and couldn’t complete today’s training session with the rest of the squad either. Still, a report from La Parisien suggests that coach Didier Deschamps could make him face Germany this upcoming week, so Real’s doctors have every reason to be concerned if Varane’s groin injury is serious enough so that he has to miss El Clasico later this month,

Carvajal is also injured and Marcelo completed his first training session with the squad after recovering from his injury this past week, so coach Julen Lopetegui has a thin defensive line right now and needs both Varane and Ramos to stay healthy if he wants to have a reliable defensive system when they visit Barcelona.

Varane might not have a big injury if France want him to play against Germany, but every small issue could get much worse if he doesn’t have the time to properly recover and rest. It will be interesting to see if Deschamps decides to start him next Tuesday.
