Former Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster discussed the team’s form in an interview with MARCA. He shared his thoughts on why the team has been performing poorly this season.

“I think the problem here is that they didn’t get enough rest because most of their players competed in the World Cup. It’s more of a psychological issue rather than a physical one, that’s why they are not fresh on the pitch. The good thing for them is that this is only a matter of time before we see the improvements,” said Schuster.

“In the end, Real Madrid is a huge club and the players know they can be criticized. I’m sure it hurts them when they see those articles and reports. In the end, they will bounce back and they will use their pride to do so,” added the German coach.

“The player is not worried, the coach is the one thinking about the next game, but it’s true that Lopetegui and every elite coach know that these situations can happen, so they are ready for criticism,” explained Schuster, who won a Liga title with the club.

Schuster also said that he “wouldn’t sign a striker this winter.”
