VIDEO: Why Are Real Madrid Struggling?

Kiyan Sobhani, Om Arvind, Naguib Anam, and Kartikay Khare break down what’s going wrong with Real Madrid on their new youtube channel, The School of Real Madrid.

Kiyan Sobhani (@KiyanSo) and I have started a new youtube channel with Naguib Anam (@NaguibAnam) and Kartikay Khare called The School of Real Madrid. The aim of our channel is to narrate and animate Real Madrid tactics, history, and other topics on a weekly basis.

Above is our first video on Real Madrid’s struggles this season under Julen Lopetegui.

Please subscribe to our YouTube channel and follow us on Twitter and Facebook if you like our content and consider supporting us on Patreon to ensure that we maintain our weekly production rate. If you pledge a certain amount per month, you can help us pick what topic to do next!

Real Madrid have been struggling this season. Though they sit only two points off the top of the table, they have failed to win and score in their last four games across La Liga and the Champions League. Part of this is down to the tough schedule and injuries Los Blancos have suffered. Sevilla, Atlético Madrid, and Alavés are by no means easy opponents and those encounters have been made all the more difficult with the absence of Isco and Marcelo.

But that doesn’t let the team off the hook. Asensio and Benzema have not performed well enough and the latter, in particular, has failed to increase his likelihood of scoring after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lopetegui has contributed to the issues as well. The excess fluidity in his system has been too much to handle for many of his attackers and he could rectify this by designing more defined attacking patterns.

However, no matter what he does, he is unlikely to solve the goal scoring problem. Unless Benzema steps up big time, Real Madrid are probably going to be lacking in this department until they are able sign a quality forward this winter or next summer.
