Real Madrid to sack Julen Lopetegui before Saturday’s El Clasico -report

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will sack Julen Lopetegui after Tuesday’s match against Viktoria Plzen, no matter what happens in that game. That’s according to El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol.

“Lopetegui will coach Madrid this Tuesday and it all points towards him not doing so at the Camp Nou. Mourinho is the favorite for the board and the club is thinking about appointing Solari until Mourinho is free to return to the Spanish capital. Solari would be a temporary option,” said Pedrerol.

“Roberto Martinez is also a candidate but Conte is also ahead of him,” added the reporter.

El Chiringuito might not be the most reliable TV show out there, but it definitely seems that Lopetegui’s time as Real Madrid’s coach is running out. Perhaps Madrid decide to be patient and wait until next Sunday —right after El Clasico— to make a decision on Lopetegui’s future. Only a win over Barcelona would save him if that happens.
