Real Madrid defender Marcelo Viera was forced to leave the game against Viktoria Plzen with what appeared to be an ankle injury which could make him miss next Sunday’s El Clasico in Barcelona.

Marcelo suffered a strong tackle and was in severe pain, even though he walked by himself without any assistance. However, it’s clear that he is expecting to miss El Clasico as the defender was visibly shocked and discouraged when he had to leave the match.

The Brazilian left-back just came back from a muscle injury this past FIFA break. It seems that he can’t catch a break this season, something which is costing Real Madrid considering that he doesn’t have a replacement in the current roster. Furthermore, Nacho has been poor in the left-back spot when he has had to play there, so Lopetegui could have to trust Reguilon —who is young and lacks the experience— sooner or later.
