Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui talked to the press ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona, which will be played at the Camp Nou. The Spanish coach said that his team can turn this situation around and said he’s not worried about his job being in jeopardy right now. He also talked about whether Marcelo will be ready to play or not after the Brazilian defender suffered what appeared to be a foot injury last Tuesday.
“Marcelo had a knock which forced him to leave the field but he is OK and he completed the training session. There’s one practice left but we believe he will be ready. Isco spent a few weeks out of the team, he’s played two games and we still have to see what happens with him tomorrow,” said Lopetegui about his two players.
“We have a very attractive and demanding game ahead of us and that’s why we’re not thinking about anything else. We’re focused on the task ahead and we’re ready to play,” said Lopetegui.
“The players trust me and I trust them even more. That confirms that we’re working hard and we’re looking forward to bringing joy to our fans, this is the right game to do that. We know how difficult it’ll be, but we will give it our very best,” added the coach.
“You shouldn’t assume that this team is hurt because we’ve done some good things even though we have not been as consistent as we would’ve hoped. We will try to improve our effectiveness but Real Madrid will be ready to face such an important match,” concluded Lopetegui.
