Breaking: Marcelo and Varane injured in humiliating loss in El Clasico

Both could miss around a month.

To make things even worse after a humiliating 5-1 loss to Barcelona in El Clasico, Marcelo and Varane had to leave the game with muscle injuries which could keep them out of the team for around a month.

Varane was taken out of the game at half-time even though he appeared to be fine. Later, club sources confirmed that he suffered what is suspected to be a groin injury. The French defender is performing very poorly this season after a brilliant campaign last year.

On the other hand, Marcelo was able to make it into the starting lineup after a serious knock during the match against Viktoria Plzen last Thursday. However, he picked up a hamstring injury which, knowing how tricky these injuries are, could also keep him out of the team for a month.

These two are dramatic losses for Real Madrid given how thin the squad is at the defensive line, so it will be interesting to see how Los Blancos replace them.
