Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro talked to the press after the devastating and embarrassing 5-1 loss to Barcelona in El Clasico. The Brazilian player took the blame and did not want to talk about the coach, even though Lopetegui is likely to be sacked today.
“We’ve been doing this all season long, we can’t be talking about the coach because we are not playing well and us players are the ones on the field,” said Casemiro. “It’s not a matter of tactics or mentality, it’s everything. This 5-1 is what we’ve been doing all season long. We know we are struggling but we have to stay calm, we can’t talk about the coach because we are the ones to blame, we are not playing well and we’ve got to get to work,” he added.
“This is a disaster. We’re all playing bad and everyone has to step up,” concluded Casemiro.
Lopetegui is expected to be sacked in the next few hours even though it seems that Casemiro would want him to stay.
