Real Madrid are set to fire current coach Julen Lopetegui after the humiliating 5-1 loss to Barcelona in Sunday’s El Clasico. Madrid’s announcement could be published as early as today and Italian coach Antonio Conte will be his replacement, according to reports from every Spanish outlet such as MARCA, AS, Cadena COPE or Onda Cero.

Lopetegui needed a win to save his job as Real Madrid’s coach and not only he didn’t deliver, Real Madrid were embarrassed and looked helpless all throughout the game, so it is hard for president Florentino Perez to keep him in charge of the team.

Antonio Conte could coach Real Madrid against Melilla this Wednesday, although current Castilla coach Santiago Solari could also be the interim coach for that game if Madrid can’t finish the deal with Conte in time for that game.

Stay tuned for more news about who will be Real Madrid’s coach throughout the rest of the season.
