Antonio Conte will not coach Real Madrid, who will appoint current Castilla coach Santiago Solari as the interim manager until the end of the season, according to reports from La Sexta, MARCA and AS. Apparently, Madrid did not trust Conte’s ability to create a peaceful environment in the dressing room given the experience he had in London when he was in charge of Chelsea.
Belgium coach Roberto Martinez would also be a candidate to join Real Madrid eventually, but Solari will be the one coaching the team in the Copa del Rey against Melilla and also against Valladolid this upcoming weekend.
Solari’s resume with Castilla isn’t full of success, but the same could’ve been said about Zidane when he was appointed as the coach of the first team and he ended up being one of the best managers Real Madrid have ever had. Either way, it’s not clear if Solari will be able to turn things around with the current squad he will have at his disposal.
