Real Madrid got a worrying 1-0 loss in Moscow against CSKA and even though they hit the post three times and could’ve easily won the game, it’s also true that they are in desperate need of a convincing performance right now.
- Isco’s absence is terrible for this team. Real Madrid just couldn’t create enough chances even when CSKA refused to counterattack. They had players in the final third and moved the ball around effectively. However, they just couldn’t create quality chances against CSKA’s solid defensive line and one has to think that Isco would’ve helped quite a lot in that regard.
- Odriozola was a bright spot. The young defender tried to attack and Carvajal’s injury didn’t cost Real Madrid. Odriozola also completed a nice interception on what would’ve been a huge chance for CSKA to score. Depending on the extent of Carvajal’s calf injury, Odriozola proved that he is ready to be his backup.
- Saturday’s game against Alaves is a must win. The Basque team have been playing well this season and Los Blancos need to bounce back with a victory. The current three-game winless streak needs to end as soon as possible even if some key starters can’t face Alaves on Saturday.
