Carvajal could miss two months with calf injury, out for El Clasico against Barcelona

Real Madrid published the medical report on defender Dani Carvajal earlier this Thursday and even though the club did not mention the extent of this injury, reports from Spain suggest that Carvajal will miss at least six weeks. This means that the right-back won’t be available for El Clasico against Barcelona, which will be played on October 28th.

“Carvajal’s injury is far worse than what was initially expected. He has a severe tear in his left calf which could keep him out of the field 6-8 weeks,” wrote Cadena COPE’s Melchor Ruiz. Later, MARCA confirmed the report.

New signing Alvaro Odriozola hasn’t been an important player for coach Julen Lopetegui this season but now he will be needed. It’s also true that Nacho could play on the right side of Madrid’s defensive line as soon as Marcelo recovers from the injury he picked up against Sevilla, so Lopetegui will have two quality options for that spot when Los Blancos visit Barcelona later this month.
