Today’s game between Deportivo Alavés and Real Madrid gives Los Blancos the opportunity to (at least temporarily) jump to first place in the league table. Alavés is not some bottom-of-the-league team right now. They sit in 6th place just three points behind Real Madrid, so this Alavés team has a lot to fight for. They could actually tie Real Madrid on points today if they win. So, there is a lot at stake for both teams.
You guys, we have to say it. Our boys Asensio and Benzema really need to step up today. I think we can all agree that they haven’t been supplied with the best service or options lately, but Asensio (and this pains me to say) has made some really questionable decisions when he does receive the ball, and Benzema has been placed (or chooses to be) on defensive duty so much he can’t give the appropriate attention to being a go-to-guy in the box when we do have possession. There’s no excuse for the lack of chances being created since Toni, Luka and Casemiro are not some new, green midfielders who don’t know each other. Bottom line, we’ve got to do better.
Fingers crossed things start to look up, starting with this game. HALA MADRID!
