Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari was very happy about the team’s 0-4 victory against Melilla in his debut game as the manager for Los Blancos. Real Madrid all but finished this tie and that will allow more rotations in the second leg at the Bernabeu.

“I don’t like to put a mark on the performance. The team played with a smile on their faces, they were keen and committed. The final score is a result of that. It wasn’t easy, but we worked hard and played with those characteristics. The pitch was heavy and they pressed very high. We have to be happy. The players are committed to the shirt and to the fans who are with them. I’m now a part of this group,” explained Solari.

Vinicius completed a very solid performance and proved that he might be ready to get more minutes with the first team down the road.

“He played 90 minutes, he is a great young talent who has just arrived. He’s living in a new country, adapting to another style of football and to a new world at Real Madrid. We can all see his talent, but football is made up more things. I’m happy with the whole team, which has worked hard,” said Solari about the wonder kid.

The Argentinian coach also revealed that Ramos did not want to miss this game after the embarrassing 5-1 loss in Barcelona.

“Ramos was very keen to start. He’s the captain of this ship and it was important for him to come and set an example today. This is how we get through a tough spell. This is a team of champions who know how to get out of these situations. I’m thrilled with the character they’ve shown,” concluded Solari.
