Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas talked to Jorge Valdano in an interview with Spanish TV channel Vamos and shared his thoughts on his last seasons in the Spanish capital.
“Mourinho was signed to compete with Barcelona and brought moments of great tension. There was a limit that he went to with me that I didn’t want to go to,” said Casillas.
”It wasn’t good for him, nor for me nor for the club. I think if it happened all over again, I would have confronted Mourinho. At that time, I opted to be quiet and I thought that was the way to honor the values of Real Madrid,” he added.
Casillas ended up leaving the club and many fans thought that he was not given a proper farewell.
“If I had continued at Real Madrid, then I would have had a worse ending than I did have,” said Casillas suggesting that his ending was not all that bad.
Casillas is still competing at a high level with FC Porto and some fans and reporters want Spain coach Luis Enrique to consider him as an option to replace De Gea as the starting goalkeeper in the national team.
