Former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho hit back at goalkeeper Iker Casillas after the Spanish player publicly said that “if it happened all over again I would confront Mourinho.”

“Casillas’ interview is one from someone whose career is almost over. Regarding what he says about me, he’s wrong when he says he never confronted me. He did so in a way he does better than anyone else: being hidden,” said Mourinho.

Casillas confirmed that he did not share Mourinho’s views but said that he never went against his coach out of respect for Madrid’s values. Mourinho seems to believe that the goalkeeper turned the press and a part of the fanbase against him during his final year in the Spanish capital, when the team still reached the Champions League Semifinals and the Copa del Rey Final.

This war between Mourinho and Casillas divided Madrid’s fandom and it looks like neither one of them is willing to let this go.
