Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke publicly confirmed that they will try to keep defender Achraf Hakimi after his loan deal to the German club ends next summer. Watzke wanted to welcome new signing Paco Alcacer to the club after confirming that they have triggered their clause to buy the attacker on a permanent basis and he also shared some words about Achraf.
“Dear Paco, welcome to Dortmund. And Achraf Hakimi, we will try to do the same thing with you, although it won’t be easy. I will talk to Florentino to try,” said Watzke.
Achraf has been shining for Dortmund and it’s not clear if he would have a relevant role in Madrid after Los Blancos decided to spend €40 million to sign Alvaro Odriozola this past summer. Carvajal and Odriozola appear to be good enough to have that spot covered for years to come, but if Achraf keeps playing like he’s been this season it won’t be easy for Madrid to give up on the young defender, who can also play on the left wing.
