UEFA have appointed German referee Deniz Aytekin as the man in charge of Wednesday’s clash between Real Madrid and Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Champions League Group Stage. This will be the first time he oversees a Real Madrid game.
Aytekin was the referee in the infamous return leg between Barcelona and PSG two seasons ago, where Barcelona beat the French side 6-1 amidst some serious controversy. However, this match involving Real Madrid and Viktoria Plzen will not be as relevant, so Madrid only need to take care of business and forget about Aytekin.
Viktoria Plzen made things quite difficult for Los Blancos during their visit a few weeks ago. They managed to create many goalscoring chances and the match ended in a close 2-1, even though Madrid were the heavy favorites to earn a comfortable and solid win on their own stadium. Viktoria Plzen will surely try to take advantage of their fans to at least get a draw, so Solari’s men will need to take the game very seriously.
