Real Madrid host Valencia trying to bounce back from their 3-0 loss in Eibar last week. Los Blancos completed a solid performance and gained control of their Champions League group on their visit to Roma last Tuesday, but they will need to do more of the same in La Liga if they want to cut Barcelona’s current five-point lead.
Solari’s men need to be much more consistent if they want to compete for all three titles. They can’t afford to play well against Roma if they can’t do the same in La Liga week in and week out.
Casemiro is still injured and Llorente played well in the Italian capital, so the Spanish midfielder might get another chance to play behind Ceballos and Modric, especially against a Valencia side which relies heavily on counterattacks against possession-oriented teams like Real Madrid. This will be an important game for Madrid and arguably the toughest ahead of the Christmas break.
